Injectables at our Tampa, Florida Center – BOTOX® Cosmetic, Radiesse™, and Restylane®

Many patients find injectables to be an ideal option for cosmetic enhancement. Not only do they produce noticeable improvements in appearance, but they also lack many of the negative qualities associated with cosmetic surgical procedures. Injectables are safe, associated with almost no pain, and result in minimal downtime. Side effects are extremely rare and, when present, tend to be very minor.

BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections

Our Tampa Bay, Florida practice offers BOTOX® Cosmetic as an option for patients looking to improve their appearance without surgery.

BOTOX® Cosmetic injections can help reduce or eliminate:

• Frown lines
• Forehead creases
• Crow’s feet near the eyes
• Thick bands in the neck

BOTOX® Cosmetic works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles, resulting in smoother, more youthful looking skin. Injections are administered on an outpatient basis, and most patients can return to their normal activities immediately following treatment.

Patients will usually notice results a few days after a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. The effects typically last for three to four months, at which point injections can be repeated.

Though BOTOX® Cosmetic is derived from a toxin, treatment involves few risks and is safe for most patients. However, people with neurological disorders and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not undergo treatment. The most common side effects are mild numbness, swelling, bruising, and tingling around the injection site. However, these side effects are rare.

Radiesse™ Injections

Radiesse™ is a new injectable product for lip enlargement and filling of folds and lines. The advantage of this product is the potential for a long lasting effect.

Radiesse™ consists of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in gel. Calcium hydroxylapatite has been used in prosthetic implants in dental, facial, and orthopedic surgery. Additionally the gel carrier doesn’t require allergy testing such as required with other injectable fillers.

Radiesse™ is considered longer-lasting than collagen and hyaluronic acid. Treatments can last anywhere from one to two years and are FDA approved for use in the face. Once the effects of the treatment begin to fade, patients can return to our practice for further injections.

Restylane® Injections

Restylane® is an injectable material made from hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the human body. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Radiesse™, it helps to smooth the skin’s surface, making it appear more youthful. Restylane® can also be used for lip enhancement.

After Restylane® is injected into the skin, it naturally draws in water and causes tissue beneath lines and wrinkles to swell, making them less visible. As the body reabsorbs the hyaluronic acid in the Restylane®, the effects of treatment gradually fade.

Patients usually need to repeat injections every six to twelve months.
